Chair on the 4th day of painting
Here's a little coup d'oeil of the second panel of my Faux Gogh chair. I just love the poplar trees in Van Gogh's Two Poplars on a Road Through the Hills (1889) painting. I find some of the original painting a bit boring visually though ~ sorry Vincent ~ so I'm improvising quite a bit on this panel.
Don't you love the autumn colours, and how they look, juxtaposed against the dark blue sky? This is my favourite time of the year and I think it's appropriate that I'm painting this autumn-ish panel while the leaves are turning brilliantly outside my window.
Most of panel two is finished, but there are a few more details to paint still. This Van Gogh sure had talent; did I mention that before?! Stay tuned ...

Oooo La La!! Talent indeed. And you, my friend, have it in spades. What a gorgeous panel!
Omg !! Paint to the chair, You really surprise me !! It's such a masterpiece.
You are amazing, Dawn!
LOVE the colors! And the improvement to the original "Poplars" painting. Yes, I said Improvement.
I just stumbled across your blog doing a google search for cafe chairs. Wow! These chairs are amazing! What kind of paint are you using? I'm so impressed by the creativity of the idea as well as the execution. Wow.
This is absolutely fantastic ! There is something I love about "usable", "touchable" art and your chairs are such a fun and imaginative example of that ! You must have felt so brave the first time you stroked a paintbrush on the upholestery ?!
Very cool !
WOW, amazing art. The colors are fantastic!!!!
I just love what you are doing with this chair. Wish I could paint like that, well, paint at all. love your blog, checked out the laundry dtg. vlog too.
Dear Arlene, lay hoon, Maija, Karyn, Azulita, Kim, Kel and Dove: thank you all for your more than kind words about my second Faux Gogh Chair. This is an awesome adventure for sure and I'm loving every minute of it.
Azulita, you asked about what kind of paint I'm using. It's acrylic.
Kim, you said you love usuable, touchable art ~ me too! Forget the pristine, acid-free stuff. I want to enjoy my art. Bring on the acid! LOL The first chair was for Arlene (Art De Me). We've noted that her chair's painting is wearing on the arms. We're trying not to get too hyper about it because it's supposed to be "live-able" art. I may coat the arms with gel medium to help keep the arms from wearing too much. But in the end, it's just the fun of creating and the fun of sitting in the chair.
And yes, it was scary to make the first paint stroke on the first chair, but Arlene assured me that she was okay with whatever the chair turned out to be, after all, it was a thrift store $14.99 special.
Next stop, the final panel on the back of the chair....
